Further Information
If you come camping at The Green Caravan Park in Shropshire, you will have various places to pitch your tent: Two small Dingles, The Plateau, The School Hut, The Play Area Field and a large five acre meadow, The Rally Field. Several of the camping pitches are adjacent to the river. We welcome both camping and caravanning on our electric hook-up pitches; there are forty four electric hook- ups in a separate field with fifteen riverside pitches and five hard standings for motor-homes. The Island now has 10 electric pitches, half of these are by the river and are designated for camping in tents or small camper vans.
We also have part of the Park set aside as a wild area that is unmanaged – nature at its best; a variety of both plant and animal life can be found in this totally unspoilt habitat. It is located at the end of the Rally Field and is crowned by a well established Oak Tree at the very top of the site.
The site allows well behaved dogs – we are a dog-friendly caravan and camping park, however dogs must be kept on a lead at all times [except in exercise area]. Dog waste bins are provided. There is a dog walk and an exercise area.
The local area here in South Shropshire, has quiet country lanes and scenic hills that naturally lend it to excellent walks. Guests will be able to spot an abundance of bird life. There are three country Inns in the vicinity of the park that serve delicious, home cooked food and traditional ales. The Inn on the Green is a family pub located at the site entrance – accessible directly from the caravan park; their Sunday lunch is highly recommended. Just up the hill is the dog-friendly Crown Inn, famous for its scrumptious pies [booking advisable]. Both pubs provide free wi-fi. The Bridges is a riverside pub, a short drive away.
The local area has a wide variety of attractions for guests to enjoy. The Stiperstone Hills with their rugged beauty , the Long Mynd with its stunning views, Snailbeach Lead Mine and the quaint market town of Bishop’s Castle are all well worth a visit, as are Church Stretton and Carding Mill Valley.
Within easy reach are several castles: Stokesay, Powis, Montgomery,Clun and Ludlow. The lovely medieval town of Shrewsbury and the festival town of Ludlow are a 30 minute drive away. A little further away is the historic town of Ironbridge with its famous bridge and the fascinating Ironbridge Gorge museums – including Blists Hill Victorian Town.
Facilities include a shower block [no central heating] that features hot showers [20p], flush toilets, hot water to all hand basins, hair dryers, electric shaver point, washing machine, tumble drier, ice-block freezer and washing-up sink. A chemical disposal point is available.
An excellent well-stocked village shop can be found just over the road – this is in addition to a small shop on site (limited opening in low season).
The park is central for touring either the countryside or the coast. You will get a warm welcome here at The Green Caravan Park in Shropshire, we will do everything we can to help make your stay a memorable one; unfortunately, we have no control over the weather!
